I’m Sarah Milward, and I’ve spent years working with teams to build websites, design engaging graphics, and craft messaging that makes sense. I’ve taken all that experience and poured it into something close to my heart: helping small businesses grow through purposeful, beautiful design, and technology that fits your needs.
In addition to running this small business, my husband, Brett Morse, and I own and operate The B-Town Sharp Shop and Bloomington Precision Sharpening. Prior to that, I ran a freelance editing and transcription business for over a decade called Hoosier Editing. I even ran my own business as a face painter for 5 years or so - Bloomington Face Painting. This entrepreneurial drive has served me well, helping me hone the skills and instincts needed to run successful organizations.
Another part of my background lies in the tech sector. I worked as a CRM database administrator for 10+ years, helping nonprofits and higher education institutions build and maintain the systems they rely on to house their most vital business data. I love technology that does what it's supposed to do without a bunch of extra stuff in the way, and I use that passion to create solutions that are attractive, make sense, and work properly. I bring that same love of practicality to my work here at Milward Creative, because if a website doesn't function and isn't user-friendly, it's looks hardly matter. Form and function have to go hand in hand, and that is what I strive to balance for small businesses through my work at Milward Creative.
Folks in the Bloomington, Indiana area might be familiar with Charlie Bird, a parrot who rode around town on the back of a bicycle and made everyone smile. I became friends with Charlie Bird and his owner, Jojo Porowski, and together we created a fundraiser to pay for Charlie's medical expenses. Charlie Bird Loves Bloomington was born - a children's book highlighting the many places in our town that Jojo and Charlie loved to visit. We launched the project in 2021 with a small local team - Nick Bauer, a talented photographer and videographer, Winnie King, a phenomenal illustrator, Jojo and Charlie, and myself. My role was multi-faceted: I wrote the story, laid out the storyboard, worked with our illustrator, managed the fundraiser to pay for book printing and other costs, built and promoted the website, generated interest on social media, and even managed press and events to promote the book. Sadly, Charlie passed away in 2023, but his memory lives on in the hearts of many in his beloved town.
Our sharpening business began in 2017 with vending part time at the Bloomington Winter Farmers' Market. Through that experience, I made lots of connections and learned about the small business and vendor community in Bloomington. We branched out to vending at the Woolery Farmers' Market (now closed) from 2020 through 2024, during which time the long-standing board president decided to step down. I stepped in for the following year, gaining a greater understanding of the needs of local food and farm vendors as well as the logistics required to operate a large farmers' market. Once we decided to open the B-Town Sharp Shop, I chose to step down from the market board, but my love for the farmers' market lives on.
